Casey White manhunt ends in Indiana, accomplice Vicky White dies, police say – KIRO 7 News Seattle

EVANSVILLE, Ind. — Alabama fugitive Casey White was taken into custody in Indiana, and his suspected confederate, Vicky White, died Monday night time from accidents sustained by a self-inflicted gunshot wound as authorities prepared to arrest the pair, law enforcement sources confirmed.

Replace 9:25 p.m. EDT May 9: Vanderburgh County Sheriff Dave Wedding confirmed Vicky White’s loss of life to The Related Press just after 9 p.m. EDT Monday. Earlier in the evening, Wedding ceremony characterized Vicky White’s self-inflicted accidents as “very serious” following a police pursuit and rollover crash.

In accordance with Vanderburgh Coroner Steve Lockyear, Vicky White died simply after 7 p.m. CDT at Deaconess Hospital, and an autopsy is schedule for Tuesday, Fox News reported.

Original report: Lauderdale County Sheriff Rick Singleton mentioned the two fugitives, who usually are not associated, were caught close to Evansville, Indiana, after a chase with U.S. Marshals, The Related Press reported.

“Casey White and Vicky White are in custody,” Singleton mentioned. “This has ended a very long and aggravating and challenging week and a half. It ended the way in which that we knew it would. They're in custody.”

Casey White is now charged with escape, and Vicky White is charged with permitting/aiding an escape, id theft and second-degree forgery, AL.com reported.

Vicky White was a jail officer at the jail that was holding Casey White, who was awaiting trial for capital murder. Inmates and officials mentioned they'd a “particular relationship,” the AP reported.

The pair had been on the run since April 29 when the 56-year-old jailer advised the Lauderdale County Detention Center in Florence, Alabama, that she was transporting the 38-year-old inmate for a mental analysis. As an alternative, they fled.

According to WAAY-TV, the fugitives have been captured after a pursuit ended when the vehicle they were driving crashed.

According to the Vanderburgh County Sheriff, the police pursuit began when the couple was spotted close to the sheriff’s office and led to a rollover crash close to Evansville Regional Airport, WXIN reported.

Casey White surrendered to police following the crash.

Sheriff Dave Wedding of Vanderburgh County Indiana confirmed to WXIN that Vicky White’s accidents are serious and had been self-inflicted when she shot herself sooner or later throughout or at the end of the pursuit.

Wedding ceremony also confirmed to the TV station that Vicky White was driving the Cadillac the fugitives have been in at the time of the crash. Singleton had beforehand reported Casey White as the driver and the crashed automobile as a Ford F-150.

“This escape was clearly well-planned and calculated. Loads of preparation went into this. That they had loads of sources, had tags, had automobiles. They had the whole lot they wanted to drag this off,” Singleton mentioned during a Monday night press conference.

“We obtained a harmful man off the street today. He is by no means going to see the sunshine of day again, and that’s a superb factor, not only for our group but that’s an excellent thing for this country,” he added.

Evansville is about 175 miles north of Williamson County, Tennessee, the place authorities on Thursday found the orange 2007 Ford Edge the pair used in their April 29 escape, the news outlet reported.
