A fifth grade scholar in Florida was arrested over the weekend and charged with sending a text message threatening to hold out a mass capturing, authorities stated.
In an announcement Saturday, the Lee County Sheriff’s Office stated it had realized earlier that day of a "threatening textual content message" despatched by a student at an elementary school.
It stated its local college menace enforcement staff was immediately notified and began investigating. The ten-year-old boy was interviewed and charged later with "making a written risk to conduct a mass capturing," the sheriff's workplace stated.
In video shared by authorities, the boy could be seen being led into a police vehicle.
“This scholar’s conduct is sickening, particularly after the recent tragedy in Uvalde, Texas,” Lee County Sheriff Carmine Marceno said in a statement, noting that the threat came simply days after the lethal faculty shooting at Robb Elementary College left 19 students and two teachers useless.
“Proper now is not the time to act like slightly delinquent. It’s not humorous,” he stated. “This child made a fake threat, and now he’s experiencing real consequences.”
