SACRAMENTO, Calif. >> A suspect on the run since a mass taking pictures left six people useless during an alleged gang dispute in California’s capital city final month has been arrested in Las Vegas, authorities stated.

Investigators consider Mtula Payton was one of many alleged gang members who opened fire in downtown Sacramento on April 3. He was taken into custody at an house complex, the Sacramento Police Division stated in an announcement Saturday evening.

“Las Vegas Metro Police Division worked with our detectives for weeks in an effort to find Payton,” the statement said.

It wasn’t known Sunday if Payton has an legal professional who might converse on his behalf.

Payton and two others, brothers Smiley Martin and Dandrae Martin, have been charged this month with murder in the slayings, in addition to weapons offenses.

Investigators provided no motive but stated in court docket documents that Smiley Martin and his companions recorded an online video hours earlier than the shooting, flashing weapons and speaking trash from a location in rival gang territory.
