Speaking within the dugout of the Nice American Ballpark in Cincinnati, Ohio, Kapler said, "I don't plan on coming out for the anthem going ahead till I feel higher about the route of our country."

In a weblog post, Kapler questioned whether the nation's leadership is dedicated to representing its folks's best interests and whether or not the USA is really "the land of the free and the home of the brave."

"We weren't given bravery, and we aren't free. The police on the scene put a mother in handcuffs as she begged them to go in and save her kids. They blocked dad and mom making an attempt to arrange to charge in to cease the shooter, including a father who discovered his daughter was murdered whereas he argued with the cops. We aren't free when politicians determine that the lobbyist and gun industries are more essential than our youngsters's freedom to go to highschool without having bulletproof backpacks and active shooter drills," Kapler wrote.

Later, Kapler wrote about his disillusionment with what he known as "the shortage of supply of the promise of what our national anthem represents."

"I'm not okay with the state of this nation. I wish I hadn't let my discomfort compromise my integrity. I wish that I could have demonstrated what I realized from my dad, that whenever you're dissatisfied together with your country, you let or not it's identified by way of protest. The home of the brave should encourage this."

Golden State Warriors head coach Steve Kerr made an impassioned plea to take stronger motion towards gun violence in the United States.

Kerr refused to speak about basketball forward of Sport 4 of the Warriors' series against the Dallas Mavericks, instead elevating his voice as he railed in opposition to gun violence within the wake of Tuesday's shooting.

"Within the final 10 days, we have had aged Black folks killed in a grocery store in Buffalo, we've had Asian churchgoers killed in Southern California, now we now have children murdered at school," Kerr told reporters at the start of the press conference.

"When are we going to do something? I'm tired. I'm so uninterested in getting up right here and offering condolences to the devastated households which can be out there ... I'm uninterested in the moments of silence. Enough."
