Mike Tyson will not face expenses in altercation with JetBlue passenger, district legal professional says

A California district lawyer declined to file expenses Tuesday in opposition to former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson after he was recorded on video in a bodily altercation with another passenger on a JetBlue flight.

San Mateo County District Legal professional Steve Wagstaffe made the choice after having reviewed police stories and videos of the April 20 incident. Each the passenger, who has not been recognized, and Tyson requested that no costs be filed.

"Yesterday afternoon the San Mateo County District Legal professional’s Office concluded its overview of the case involving Mike Tyson at the San Francisco Airport on April 20, 2022 and the allegation that he dedicated a misdemeanor battery against one other passenger on an airplane whereas ready on the terminal prior to departure," Wagstaffe said in a statement.

"Our determination is that we will not file any costs against Mr. Tyson primarily based on the circumstances surrounding the confrontation. These embrace the conduct of the sufferer main up to the incident, the interplay between Mr. Tyson and the victim, as well as the requests of each the victim and Mr. Tyson that no fees be filed on this case," Wagstaffe stated.

The case is now closed.

Cellphone video confirmed Tyson, 55, showing to attempt to punch someone who was pushing him away. Representatives for Tyson said the individual was harassing Tyson. The video did not present what happened before the altercation.

David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld and Martin Sabelli, attorneys for Tyson, responded to the decision to not file fees by thanking Wagstaffe, the San Mateo County sheriff and legislation enforcement agencies "for his or her cautious, diligent, and professional work."
