ARLINGTON, Texas - Arlington police said Duff Elementary School was positioned on lockdown for a time Thursday after a parent with a concealed weapon had his gun by chance go off, hitting the parent in the leg.

The college had early launch and students had been released on the planned time of 12:10 p.m.

In keeping with police, the dad or mum, recognized as 55-year-old Anthony White, dropped his gun and by accident shot himself. His damage was not critical.

The school district stated White was contained in the building, near the lobby area, and not within the hallway near students when the gun went off.

No college students or workers have been injured. The mother or father was taken to an space hospital after being shot within the leg. 

Arlington Police Chief Al Jones mentioned after White was launched from the hospital, he was arrested and charged with illegal carrying of a weapon in prohibited locations and discharge of a firearm in sure municipalities.

Rasheed mentioned Thursday was the commencement day for sixth grade students at Duff Elementary.

"If something happened, you’ve got to run wherever that’s safe and conceal," she advised her baby.

While some say the incident in Uvalde is simply too recent to talk politics, Mitchell said something must be completed now. 

"They wish to discuss it, they wish to campaign on it, they wish to fundraiser on it, however they don’t need to truly pass any legal guidelines and do anything," he added.
