Taliban leader orders women to put on all-covering burqa in public: Decree

Afghanistan’s supreme leader and Taliban chief on Saturday ordered the country’s women to put on the all-covering burqa in public - one of the harshest controls imposed on girls’s lives for the reason that Taliban seized energy.

“They need to wear a chadori (head-to-toe burqa) as it's traditional and respectful,” mentioned a decree issued by Hibatullah Akhundzada that was launched by Taliban authorities at a perform in Kabul.

“These girls who are usually not too old or young must cover their face, except the eyes, as per sharia directives, so as to avoid provocation when meeting men who are usually not mahram (grownup close male kinfolk),” the decree said.

It added that if girls had no essential work exterior it was “better they stay at residence.”

Throughout their first regime between 1996 and 2001, the Taliban imposed similar restrictions on women.
