Tesla recollects 130K vehicles; touch screens can go clean

Tesla is recalling about 130,000 automobiles across its U.S. model lineup because their contact screens can overheat and go blank.

The remembers covers certain Model S sedan and Mannequin X SUVs from 2021 and 2022, in addition to Mannequin 3 automobiles and Model Y SUVs from 2022.

Documents posted Tuesday by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration say that through the fast-charging course of, the central processing computer systems could not cool sufficiently. That may cause the pc to lag or restart, making the center display run slowly or appear clean.

Without the middle screen, the vehicles can lose rearview digicam displays, settings that control windshield defrosters and indicators that say whether or not the automobiles are in drive, neutral and reverse. That may enhance the risk of a crash.

Tesla is fixing the problem with on-line software program updates that will improve temperature administration for the computer. Updates began on Could 3.

Tesla says that it found the issue in routine endurance testing. The company has no experiences of crashes or accidents, but it received 59 related warranty claims from January to early May.
