Taliban chief orders ladies to put on all-covering burqa in public: Decree

Afghanistan’s supreme chief and Taliban chief on Saturday ordered the nation’s women to wear the all-covering burqa in public - one of the harshest controls imposed on women’s lives since the Taliban seized energy.

“They need to wear a chadori (head-to-toe burqa) as it's traditional and respectful,” mentioned a decree issued by Hibatullah Akhundzada that was launched by Taliban authorities at a perform in Kabul.

“These girls who usually are not too previous or young must cover their face, besides the eyes, as per sharia directives, to be able to avoid provocation when assembly males who are usually not mahram (adult shut male kinfolk),” the decree said.

It added that if ladies had no essential work outdoors it was “higher they stay at residence.”

During their first regime between 1996 and 2001, the Taliban imposed similar restrictions on ladies.
