Mike Tyson won’t face expenses in altercation with JetBlue passenger, district legal professional says

A California district lawyer declined to file costs Tuesday towards former heavyweight boxing champion Mike Tyson after he was recorded on video in a physical altercation with one other passenger on a JetBlue flight.

San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe made the decision after having reviewed police stories and videos of the April 20 incident. Both the passenger, who has not been identified, and Tyson requested that no costs be filed.

"Yesterday afternoon the San Mateo County District Legal professional’s Workplace concluded its evaluate of the case involving Mike Tyson at the San Francisco Airport on April 20, 2022 and the allegation that he dedicated a misdemeanor battery against one other passenger on an airplane whereas ready on the terminal prior to departure," Wagstaffe stated in a statement.

Cellphone video confirmed Tyson, 55, appearing to attempt to punch somebody who was pushing him away. Representatives for Tyson mentioned the particular person was harassing Tyson. The video didn't show what occurred before the altercation.

David Chesnoff, Richard Schonfeld and Martin Sabelli, attorneys for Tyson, responded to the choice to not file fees by thanking Wagstaffe, the San Mateo County sheriff and law enforcement businesses "for his or her cautious, diligent, and professional work."
